Larger High-tech Machine, front and back views:
Large machine Large machine, rear view
This is a larger machine in the same style as the smaller ones. It also stands about twice the height of a human figure. There is no sandy base so this piece could be set on top of a building roof or on the deck of a spaceship. On the right is this same piece before the final detailing and painting.

From the bottom up the parts are: a steel 3/4 inch washer (about 1-3/4 inch across), the plastic cap from a bottle of hospital-issue sterilized water, and the top part of a bottle of Ban Roll-on deodorant which was cut off with a razor saw. The ball was fixed in place with a few drops of superglue to the underside. Pieces of plastic model sprue were selected, cut to fit, and superglued to the sides. The final pictures above show the addition of bits of wire, most of which were cut from paperclips then glued into small drilled holes.

Unfinished machine

The piece is painted in shades of grey and white with white drybrushed to suggest weathering. I painted thin black lines to suggest circuitry on the tops and edges of the spiral vanes (actually the threads for the roll-on bottle's cap). A single red stripe and one small pipe painted blue complete the detailing.
