Star Wars Miniatures Battles
Game Summary

Star Wars Miniatures Battles (2nd ed. 1993, by Stephen Crane and Paul Murphy) is a game of 25mm skirmish-level ground combat set in the Star Wars universe. Troops are organized in squads of 2 to 10 figures. Weapons range from blaster pistols to tripod-mounted heavy blasters and laser towers, and include special weapons like Wookiee bowcasters, torpedo launchers, and thermal detonators. Melee weapons include lightsabers and gaderffii sticks. The rules also cover the addition of special equipment, heroes, creatures, and droids to the game. Troop lists, several scenarios and a terrain making section are included.

Players alternate moving squads, and any squads which have not moved may try to take opportunity fire on a moving enemy squad. After movement the remaining ranged weapons fire occurs simultaneously, then all close assault combat occurs simultaneously. Finally squads take morale tests or attempt to rally as needed. The morale level of each squad is tracked throughout the game, and can decline as the squad takes casualties or fails tests when entering close assault combat.

SWMB Companion (1994, by Stephen Crane) adds rules for vehicles from speeder bikes to AT-ATs. It also includes rules for flight, more special equipment, background material on troop organization, and new scenarios.

Imperial Entanglements (1996, by Stephen Crane) provides nine new scenarios, expanded and clarified troop lists, and rules for the Imperial Storm Skimmer vehicle.

A boxed Starter Set was released which includes the SWMB rulebook, 12 miniatures, and dice. The miniatures are from blister packs 40403 (Stormtroopers 1), 40405 (Rebel Troopers 1), 40422 (Bounty Hunters 1), and 40441 (Skywalkers).

A Vehicle Starter Set (1996) also was released, including the Companion book and three metal vehicle miniatures: one snowspeeder, one imperial speeder bike, and one rebel bike.

The Mos Eisley Adventure Set (1997) is a boxed set including Galaxy Guide 7: Mos Eisley, a 32 page adventure book, a 17 x 22 inch map of Mos Eisley showing the interior of the cantina on the reverse side, and 12 metal miniatures. Most of this set is designed for the RPG players, although the miniatures and the one miniatures scenario in the adventure book are useful for SWMB players, and the maps are a great source of ideas for terrain.
