Swoops:
Swoops
These swoops and riders come from Galoob's Micro Machines Star Wars Action Fleet Battle Pack #5, "Shadows of the Empire." This pack also includes a perfectly usable droid figure, LE-BO2D9.

The pair of swoops were packaged with a single large black stand with a two-pronged tab. I have mounted them on clear plastic flight stands (available from several different miniatures companies). The swoop has a mounting hole on the bottom which is set rather far back. I drilled a small hole in each swoop nearer the center of balance. I cut down the flight stand a bit and drilled out the top of the stand (next time I will probably make the stand even shorter). I cut a short piece of wire from a small paperclip, superglued it into the top of the stand to act as a pin, and superglued the pin into the swoop. I also chose to glue the rider into the seat.

The swoops can be fielded as you see here with no additional painting, but the riders could use some touch-up work. Gang symbols could be added to the sides of the swoops as well. The original mounting hole could be cut off, filed smooth, filled in and painted, but I think it looks fine as it is--just another odd bit of machinery jutting out from the engine.

In retrospect, the easiest way to prepare these toys for the miniature table is to borrow some of the small clear flight stands from little Micro Machines space ships. They fit into the bottom of these swoops just fine.
